Allegheny Sport & Outdoor Magazine is a new print journal to convene trail groups, teams, outfitters, neighborhoods, athletes and artists playing and making meaning outside in Southwestern Pennsylvania. ASO is meant to be a practice in paying attention to a particular place in the world, through the lens of sport and outdoor culture. That of the Allegheny River watershed, the Allegheny Mountains and Allegheny County (in which Pittsburgh is located). The meaning of the word comes from the Lenape (Delaware) Native American tribe and is usually translated as “fine river.”
